Well Crafted Services » horizontal directional drilling
Celerity Integrated Services provides a host of underground installation services that includes traditional trenching, soft excavation and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). These services are provided by highly trained in-house crews operating Celerity-owned equipment. Celerity’s experience, knowledge and highly maintained equipment list allow us to adeptly deploy sub-surface infrastructure for telecommunications and other utilities.
Directional drilling is a specialized service that allows for the installation of a variety of underground infrastructure for all types of utilities including water, sewer, gas and communications with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment. Celerity focuses our efforts on telecommunications infrastructure, though we can assist other utilities should the need arise.
During the HDD process, a drilling fluid is used to stabilize the borehole and remove the drill cuttings. The fluid is then reclaimed, filtered, and recycled back into the drilling process. Once the borehole is complete, conduits are pulled back through the hole and are tied into other conduits. These tie-points usually occur within handholes and provide access points for pulling the fiber optic cable through the system to their eventual splice or termination points.
One of the major benefits of directional drilling is that it creates minimal disruption to the surface and virtually eliminates the need to backfill and restore existing landscaping. Other advantages of directional drilling include faster installation times that are often more cost-effective over traditional methods. This method is ideal for installing fiber optic cables in areas where traditional trenching is not feasible or would cause too much disruption, such as highly congested Rights of Way or under streams, roads, driveways or parking lots. For more delicate areas that require great care when digging, Celerity offers soft excavation with our experienced in-house crews and owned equipment. Also known as vacuum excavation, soft excavation uses water or air to break up the soil and a vacuum system to remove the soil from the working area.
This method of excavation is highly useful in areas where subsurface utilities are congested and need to be located so additional construction can occur. Soft excavation also reduces the risk of damaging other subsurface utilities such as a conduit. Water will wash away the soil from the conduit where a backhoe could tear through or puncture the conduit. Additionally, soft excavation can be safer in areas of electric lines where a metal backhoe striking the cable could cause the backhoe to become energized resulting in injury to the operator. Celerity is highly adept and practices stringent safety protocols in all of the services that we provide.
Celerity owns a host of additional equipment for more traditional excavation services. Deploying our highly experienced, safety conscious crews with our well maintained and equipment will ensure that your project will be completed on schedule and with the highest degree of craftsmanship. Celerity has the equipment to open cut, trench and restore conduit banks of all sizes.
Celerity has chain trenching equipment that is sizeable to achieve suitable depths of telecommunications construction up to 36 inches of depth. We also have smaller trenching equipment for constructing service drops. In addition, Celerity can also provide cable plowing services in areas where the soil conditions are suitable for plowing.
