PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Engineering is part of every job - specified or not.
the engineering plan for a project is critical to our pre-job preparation. We offer project-specific engineering services beyond traditional layout and design.
From hand drawn redlines, to full blown CAD drawings, to complete electronic database closeout packages, Celerity can handle the most stringent requirements.
When it’s well planned,
it’s been planned by Celerity.
Celerity's OSP Engineers are seasoned telecommunications professionals, adept at strand and conduit mapping, making ready assessments, pole application processing and permitting. Knowing each customer's needs and expectations are unique, the Celerity team has the experience, resources and committment to provide superior telecom engineering.
When cables, conduits or other utility structures are to be placed in the state, local, municipality or private right-of-way areas, the process requires obtaining necessary permits. Our engineering team will create permit drawings using AutoCAD and GIS Mapping services and submit the permit applications to the proper jurisdictions.
We continue to track all pending permits to the review process and communicate the status of each permit with the client. Our experience and knowledge equips us to set reasonable expectations for the timelines and requirements to complete railway and waterway crossings, PennDOT road permits, highway occupancy permits and any other type of requirement to properly permit and maintain a project’s timeline.
Over time, Network Documentation can become less reliable or fall into disarray. Repairs and changes are not always documented, or an employee linked with a case may advance within the company or move on. Or, a network was not properly documented from the onset.
Whatever has caused the documentation to become inaccurate can be restored through a Fiber Audit to create an updated, reliable asset for our customers.
Considered a long-range planning device, feasibility studies sort out the unknowns in cost of make-ready, construction and ongoing maintenance. Part of the feasibility study process is providing the client with the optimal routing and construction methodology of the fiber infrastructure and accurate industry-based knowledge for budgeting purposes. Knowing the facts, our customers can make sound fiscal decisions in the planning stages of a project.
Additional details for attachment are documented in a required field survey for the pole owner. Celerity’s staff routinely works with numerous pole owners to complete each field survey smoothly and expediently.
With the agreement and completed field survey done, we gather relevant data, design a safe and cost effective solution, and then organize all information to meet the individual pole owner and customer expectations. All data goes to the pole owner for final approval, with permit tracking through the receipt of the authorized license.
Make Ready Assessments, part of our feasibility studies, provide the client with information for budgetary purposes and the ability to make sound fiscal decisions in the planning stages of the project.
The Make Ready Assessment provides an estimate of level of work and associated charges to prepare the pole to be attached, while accounting for proper space or clearance for the new facility. Celerity’s vast experience and knowledge of the Make Ready process enables us to navigate our customers through what can seem like a daunting process.
Before OTMR practices, each involved company was required to perform their make ready adjustments individually. Those companies could self-perform the work or arrange for a subcontractor to complete the work. Because the last attacher is required to take the top attachment height in the communications space, the lowest cable needs to be moved first in order to accommodate the lowering of higher placed attachments. As each company performed these tasks individually, the schedule of the work was dictated by the schedule of the lowest attacher. The process would then repeat for each attacher that became the next lowest attacher. With OTMR, one contractor lowers all attachments during a single visit to the utility pole, thereby reducing the time required to complete the work and the number of times that traffic flow could be impeded. This singular work activity reduces the overall cost to complete and distributes those savings to each of the attachers. Furthermore, the applicant maintains more control of the make-ready process when using OTMR as there is a single point of contact for the completion of the work.
Rural Broadband and FTTx projects are once again a very hot topic. Celerity is no stranger to these large-scale projects that are often funded through grants or other government subsidized funding resources. Celerity has been assisting in the design, construction, splicing, testing and ongoing maintenance of these types of networks throughout our 20-year history.
COVID-19 has placed a spotlight on the digital divide that exists the more rural areas of our country. Federal, State and Local governments are focusing efforts and developing plans to push broadband availability to remote and underserved areas. Celerity is uniquely poised to assist in these types of projects as we build long term relationships with our customers and become trusted advisors throughout all the stages of the projects.
Starting with feasibility studies, we assist our customers in developing executable plans and budgets. We can provide the overall project management and construction of these networks, regardless of the size, scope or duration of the project. Other contractors may take on large, but they’re gone once the construction is complete. What truly delineates Celerity as the premier choice for rural broadband or FTTx projects is that we will be there for our customers to help operate and maintain the network long after it’s built.
Strand Mapping can be developed, in a variety of formats, to provide the customer with a high-level view of the project pathway.
In most cases, strand mapping is a means to show additional detail of the intended construction along with our application submittals for all attachments.
Well-documented networks are proven to be well-maintained networks and experience better performance with less down time. However, whether our customers are telcos, utilities, hospitals, schools, universities or private entities, facilities and people are constantly changing.
An outage or the urgent a need to reroute or move a cable highlights the importance of a well- documented network. When a customer needs to know exactly what fibers are in use and how they are configured in the network, the information is critical.
Across all three disciplines of engineering, construction and splicing, we provide network documentation at each step. Celerity provides a full set of as-built prints when a project is complete, documenting the final construction for their files and records. Developing a symbiotic relationship through our work, we also gain a level of trust with our customers along the way.
We match our customer’s investment by providing sound and thorough information and consulting services from our initial conversation, expanding through every step of the project and continuing long after the project is complete. We believe that building relationships is as important as building the network.
Celerity is proud of the level of detail provided in our documentation. We whole-heartedly believe in developing long-term relationships with our customers. We provide the highest level of documentation needed for accurate recordkeeping, including photo documentation, accurate as-builts and reliable job history reports.
Transparent record keeping from the field creates an additional level for the customer’s recordkeeping and the ability to make educated plans for future builds. Accuracy allows us to better service and maintain our customers’ networks and continue to build the long-term relationships we seek to foster with every customer.
